This privacy policy explains what this site collects, why it collects it, and what choices readers have. It applies to excellusdatabreachclassaction.com and to comments left on its posts.
1. Scope
This policy covers the personal information handled by this site. It does not cover the practices of any operator, regulator, or other site that a reader reaches through a link. Danika Ferro writes the pages published here; questions about this policy can be raised through the methods in section 7.
2. Data received
This site collects information in three ways.
- Comment form. The WordPress comment form collects a name, an email address, an optional website address, and the comment text. It also records the IP address and browser user agent of the commenter.
- Server logs. The web host keeps standard server logs, which record requests made to the site.
- Cookies. A cookie may be set to remember comment form details so that a reader does not need to re-enter them.
At the time of writing, this site loads no analytics scripts, no advertising scripts, and no third party scripts.
3. Purpose
Comment data is used to display comments, to moderate them, and to detect spam or abuse. Server logs are used to keep the site running and secure. The comment form cookie exists only to make commenting easier on a return visit. This site does not use the data it collects to build advertising profiles.
4. Retention
Comments remain published while the post is live. A commenter may ask for a comment to be removed at any time, and this site will remove it on request. Server logs are kept by the host for its standard retention period.
5. Sharing
The web host processes data on behalf of this site and keeps the server logs described above. This site does not sell personal information. Some outbound links may be affiliate links, and some of those links may earn a commission; the affiliate disclosure sets out how that works.
6. Defined terms
- Personal information
- Information about an identifiable individual, such as a name, an email address, or an IP address.
- Comment data
- The name, email address, optional website address, comment text, IP address, and browser user agent submitted through the comment form.
- Server log
- A record kept by the web host of requests made to the site.
- Cookie
- A small file stored in a reader’s browser that can remember details between visits.
7. Reader choices
A reader may comment without providing a website address. A reader may clear cookies through browser settings at any time. To ask for a comment to be removed, leave a comment on any post stating the request, or use the contact page. No email address is published on this site; contact runs through the comment form on posts.
8. Privacy law
This site handles personal information in line with Canadian federal private sector privacy law, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), where that law applies.
9. Changes
This policy may be updated as the site changes. The current version is the one published on this page.
For any request under this policy, use the contact page.
